Join us in celebrating All Buffleheads Day with eclectic musician, Ed Peekeekoot and local bufflehead biologist, KJ Finley. All Buffleheads Day (ABD) marks the first appearance of the bufflehead, the “Spirit Duck”, to their saltwater homes on the west and east coasts of Canada. The world’s most punctual migrant, they arrive very nearly on the 298th day of the earth’s cycle, which falls on October 14th in this Leap year. ABD is a scientific constant based on twenty years of study in Shoal Harbour Migratory Bird Sanctuary in Sidney, B.C..
