Slim & The Deuces

Label: indie
since circa 2008
Slim & The Deuces was a traditional blues band (with quite a few originals) formed in early 2008 by Dave Harris (lead vocals, guitar, amplified harmonica and fiddle, John Hunter (drums, backing vocals) and Greg Kennedy (bass, backing vocals). John and Greg had a lot of earlier history in the blues and backed greats including Albert Collins, Pinetop Perkins, John Nicholas and James Cotton among others. Dave fronted the band and they played the Blues Bash, Nanaimo Blues Fest and other local and up-island gigs. The band recorded a good live CD at the Nanaimo Blues Underground. When Greg left after a few years George Fenn came in on bass. Gary Preston also joined for a period on vocals, keyboard and harp (yes, 2 harps, it was cool!). Not long before the band folded Jordie Edmonds came in on guitar. John and George went on to back Jason Buie, Bill Johnson and others. Dave continued with his one man band. Greg Kennedy sadly passed on. All do... more...
