Paul Wainwright and Sax Safari

High-energy saxman-vocalist Paul
Wainwright is most famous for his
20-year stint with the Big Band
Trio. His current band is exploring
the jazz-fusion world of Weather
Report and the Brecker Brothers,
albeit with a distinctive Caribbean
lilt courtesy of co-bandleader and
bassist Steve Duben. The rest of
the all-veteran Safari includes
Michael O’Leary drums, Gabriel
Hasselbach trumpet, Morry
Stearns keyboard, and Tom Lang
guitar. Their CD Plank Spankin’ is
great, but nothing beats this
music when it’s live!
